The obstruction of the secondary mirror is only 38%. This value is comparable to that of Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. Thanks to the 96% reflectivity of the primary and secondary mirrors, the image is considerably brighter. Field sharpness is also better because the image field is substantially distortion-free. • Telescope for astrophotography: The Cassegrain is very well suited for lunar and planetary photography. Visual contrast is very high. Thanks to internal diaphragms, stray light is effectively suppressed. Planets and small lunar craters can be seen without the slightest chromatic aberration.
