TS-Optics Concenter 2" Collimation eyepiece for Newtonian telescopes
TS CONCENTER 2" - adjusting a Newtonian has never been easier. The alternative to all collimation tools currently on the market! It now takes the center of the secondary mirror into account (without needing a center mark). The adjustment is performed with the focuser fully illuminated. Newtonian offset is also taken into account. Now, even beginners can achieve perfect collimation of their Newtonian telescope, even for astrophotography. The Concenter eyepiece consists of a closed cylinder, similar to a Cheshire eyepiece. The fundamental difference is the inserted disk. A center mark on the secondary mirror is not required for collimation. Collimation takes place directly via the edge of the mirror, ensuring the exact congruence of the optical light areas, including with regard to the offset. Collimation is now much more precise than with a laser, and above all, you can be certain that not only the axis but also the field is optimally adjusted. A guide for collimating your Newtonian with the Concenter collimation eyepiece: If you hold the adjustment eyepiece, you will notice a transparent plastic disk with a central hole and concentric circles engraved on the telescope side at the lower end. At the other end, there is a central hole, chosen to be so small that the eye has no possibility of avoiding centering when looking through it. After inserting the collimation eyepiece into the focuser, you will see faint translucent rings in front of the telescope's optical components. • Collimation of the secondary mirror to the focuser for optimal illumination. This step is performed with the primary mirror covered. Ensure good illumination when using the Concenter eyepiece. At this point, adjust the secondary mirror—the rectangular mount of the focuser that is assumed—so that it appears between the rings of the collimation circles and without offsets. By using the focuser's focus control, you can bring the outer edge of the secondary mirror and the collimation circle into alignment. Even small deviations from the ideal position are recognized immediately. This allows you to position the secondary mirror in the optimal location relative to the focuser with millimeter precision. This operation is only necessary once; afterwards, you can remove the primary mirror cover. • Alignment of the secondary mirror to the primary mirror. Looking into the eyepiece, change the tilt using the secondary mirror screws until the light reflection of the primary mirror in the secondary mirror is concentric with the circles. Alignment of the primary mirror to the optical axis. Move the center mark of the primary mirror exactly to the center of the concentric circles using the adjustment screws of the primary mirror cell. You will notice even the slightest deviation. This will leave your Newtonian telescope perfectly collimated.
