The 32 mm Plössl is an excellent wide-field eyepiece. With its long focal length of 32 mm, it is particularly suitable for slow telescopes like Cassegrains or refractors, but it also works with fast telescopes down to f/5. In this case, a longer eyepiece focal length would not make sense. With slower telescopes, the image remains bright, making the eyepiece suitable for observing nebulae, open star clusters, and galaxies, as well as for centering objects. Fields of application for Plössl eyepieces: Thanks to its four-element design, the Plössl is a true "all-rounder". It does not introduce additional chromatic aberration into the system, unlike simpler eyepieces with fewer elements. Consequently, these eyepieces can be used very well for Moon and planet observation at higher magnifications. At lower magnifications, Plössl eyepieces are suitable for observing nebulae, star clusters, and galaxies, as they impress with a relatively distortion-free field of view. Astrophotographers can also work well with Plössl eyepieces, as they are suitable for eyepiece projection. The MgF2 coating prevents annoying reflections and provides good contrast. However, many projection adapters are too tight for 32 mm or 40 mm focal length Plössl eyepieces.
