Description

The new Sky-Watcher StarQuest equatorial mount is a valid and higher-performing alternative to those with a classic design, ensuring remarkable stability, a payload capacity of up to 3kg, and, thanks to the convenient friction system on both axes, smooth and effective movements.

The friction system, inherited from its twin the AZEQ Avant, allows for exceptional performance in terms of handling and ease of pointing, without sudden jolts or friction that could interfere with observations. Once the axes are locked, you can use the mount for fine and precise pointing thanks to the micrometric movements driven by the worm gear – 122-tooth ring gear system.

For effective polar alignment, it is sufficient to set the mount's altitude to a value equal to your latitude of observation in degrees using the dedicated knob (with the help of your smartphone's bubble level function) and orient the mount itself in azimuth towards the celestial North Pole. By then acting only on the Right Ascension axis via the micrometric controls, you will be able to keep the object you are observing within the field of view.
