The Sky-Watcher AZ EQ6 is a new mount capable of carrying two optical tubes simultaneously when used in alt-azimuth mode. Improvements over the NEQ6 mount include:

• enlarged counterweight bar
• head is 26% lighter than the EQ6 (the AZ EQ6 head weighs only 15kg without counterweights)
• improved and much more stable latitude adjustment
• same load capacity as the EQ6 but with greater stability
• the AZ EQ6 can switch in just a few moments from alt-azimuth to equatorial configuration and vice versa
• the attachment head for the second telescope (on the counterweight bar) has micrometric adjustments to align it with the main one, excellent for comparative tests or guide telescopes
• can control a DSLR camera via the included cable
• mounts telescopes with either Vixen or Losmandy bars

The most evident improvements introduced in the new Sky-Watcher mount, beyond the motorization with dual encoders (to be kept active only if you wish to perform manual pointing with released clutches), lie in the enlarged counterweight bar, which provides greater stability when heavy loads are present, and especially in the head of the AZ EQ 6, redesigned to be lighter and more high-performing, with a new system for altitude adjustment.

Furthermore, switching from the alt-azimuth to the equatorial configuration of the AZ EQ 6 requires very little time and is done by adjusting the altitude screw.

In alt-azimuth mode, the AZ EQ6 doubles its load capacity, leaving you maximum freedom to use your setups! Switching from EQ to AZ mode is very simple and fast, taking about 2 minutes.

The Sky-Watcher Synscan system is a very precise instrument that will guide you to easily find the objects to observe, whether they are nebulae or planets, as well as remote galaxies. The system is included in the supplied WiFi module or via the optional SK-HAN5 hand controller.

A new feature for PPEC: the AZ EQ6 Synscan is equipped with an index on the RA worm gear that allows the mount to always keep track of the current index position on the worm. This means that the user can start the PEC at any time, after the first recording, in order to improve tracking accuracy in astrophotography. If polar alignment has been performed accurately, there is no need to repeat the PEC procedure for the next astrophotography session, thus obtaining a PPEC (Permanent Periodic Error Correction). The PEC routine can be performed either manually or conveniently using autoguiding. It is important, if you want to keep the PEC for subsequent sessions, to avoid unlocking the mount's axes when it is powered off; in this case, it is useful to park the mount from the utility menu, turn off the mount, and dismantle it, being careful to leave the axes locked. Controlling 1 or 2 DSLRs: the Sky-Watcher AZ EQ6 Synscan is equipped with 2 ports to control up to 2 DSLRs. Included are 2 cables for Canon reflex cameras, compatible with models such as the 600D (jack connection for remote shutter). If you need cables for other models, please contact us.

Intermediate belt drive: the AZ EQ6 Synscan features an intermediate belt drive (like the AZ EQ5 GT) to achieve greater tracking precision, as well as lower periodic error and backlash.
