iOptron SkyGuider Pro Kit

SkyGuider Pro is an extremely lightweight mount for tracking with a camera with interchangeable lenses or a small telescope. It allows for longer exposure times, making it possible to capture fascinating panoramic images of the night sky.

The SkyGuider Pro mount is the big brother of the popular iOptron SkyTracker Pro mount and allows the use of cameras with heavy lenses, up to 5 kilograms in weight. To make this possible, the SkyGuider Pro is equipped with a more robust right ascension axis, larger worm gears, and a counterweight for balancing the camera.

Furthermore, a second camera can be mounted in place of the counterweight, allowing you to observe the sky with two different focal lengths. This second camera can weigh up to 3 kilograms.

The mount is prepared for use with the optional Go2Nova hand controller and even for automatic tracking via an ST-4 port.

The SkyGuider-Pro is equipped with built-in lithium-polymer batteries, rechargeable via USB.

For the SkyGuider-Pro mount to perform correct tracking, its axis of rotation must correspond to the Earth's axis of rotation. To do this, simply aim at the North Star which, by a whim of nature, points to the pivot point of the Earth's rotation in the celestial sphere with sufficient precision. Pointing is supported by a scope integrated into the axis of the SkyGuider-Pro, known as a polar scope. This is equipped with an illuminated reticle that allows you to locate the North Star and thus orient yourself with ease.

You will likely use the standard tracking speed most of the time to keep the stars within the field of view. However, it is also possible to set the speed for the Moon or the Sun. In this regard, another option is also very interesting: if you wish to photograph both the stars and the countryside or houses in the background, you can select half-sidereal speed. This way, the stars will remain point-like without having blurred objects in the background.

For all four speed types, it is also possible to reverse the direction of rotation, so that the SkyGuider-Pro mount also works in the Southern Hemisphere. This is an important feature, given that the SkyGuider-Pro is an excellent travel mount!
