iOptron GEM45-EC GoTo Mount with LiteRoc Tripod
Innovative ideas for a proven design: the iOptron GEM45 is a new generation German equatorial mount! Its elegant CNC-machined housing suggests that the GEM45 is a first-class mount in both form and function.
And it truly is: the GEM45 has much more to offer than just elegance:
- The mount's design is so slim that it features an incredibly favorable payload-to-weight ratio of 2.8. The compact 7-kilogram mount accurately and securely supports optics and accessories weighing up to 20 kilograms!
- With the integrated electronic polar finder (iPolar), correct alignment of the mount (polar alignment) is a breeze, even when the North Star is not visible.
- Thanks to large levers, the quick-lock drive system can be easily engaged or disengaged even while wearing gloves. The internal cable management system prevents tangles or snags.
- A new, patent-pending Universal Self-Centering Saddle (USCS) accepts both Losmandy and Vixen standard dovetail plates.
- The GEM45 mount uses a reliable stepper motor drive system with low power consumption.
- A database of over 212,000 objects with star identification, built-in GPS, a large handheld controller, and optional Wi-Fi (requires an iStarFi adapter) are just some of the advanced standards of this mount's GoTo system.
The LiteRoc tripod is a new tripod developed by iOptron that is as light as possible, yet as stable as necessary. It is therefore very well suited for transportable mounts used in mobile observatories and by astrophotographers. Compared to the previous version, the LiteRoc tripod features a more stable tripod leg support and larger locking levers. The upper tripod legs have a diameter of 45 mm (1.75") and the lower section is 38 mm (1.5"). This makes the extendable legs just as strong as those of the previous 2" tripod. Thanks to the narrower design of the upper section, the LiteRoc is lighter.
With or without encoders: the mount is available in two versions, both of which track your optics precisely across the night sky. The version with high-resolution encoders (EC) on both axes achieves an accuracy better than 0.25 arcseconds and corrects periodic worm gear error in real time! This eliminates the need for guiding in astrophotography.
