Technical data sheet
Howie Glatter 650nm 1.25" & 2" Laser Collimator
Howie Glatter Laser - For collimating your telescope with maximum precision
There are many laser collimators on the astronomy market, and many are built in a highly questionable way. You see laser beams sliding like a splash of color on the primary mirror and tubes that dance the samba inside the focuser.
How can you talk about a well-collimated telescope? What use is even the most expensive telescope? The optics must be in order.
Luckily, there is a solution: a Howie Glatter laser.
A cylinder custom-made for the focuser
The Howie Glatter laser features, depending on the model, a 1.25" or 2" fitting. Unlike competing models, the diameter is calculated to perfection.
The laser sits in the right place - and as a result, you will also achieve the correct collimation.
Thin laser beam
A thin, well-defined laser beam is projected through your telescope. Depending on whether you are collimating during the day or at night, you can choose between a brighter or dimmer beam.
The laser diode is collimated and fixed during production. Even if the Howie Glatter laser suffers shocks, the collimation remains stable.
Even more precise: The 1mm aperture mask
The Howie Glatter laser is a well-thought-out tool. Everything becomes clearer when you see the accessory. Different masks can be screwed onto the front, making collimation even more precise.
A mask with a 1 mm hole in the center is included in the shipment. With this mask, the laser beam is further narrowed. When the mirror reflects the beam, you will see a central dot surrounded by concentric circles.
Accessories for the collimation laser
In addition to the 1mm aperture mask, other optional accessories are available for the Howie Glatter laser. A Barlow lens, a holographic reticle, an extension with a 45° matte plate - all elements that make collimation even more precise. With the holographic reticle, for example, you can precisely center the secondary mirror of a Newton telescope and easily adjust the offset. With the Barlow element, you can achieve even more precise adjustment of the primary mirror.
The Howie Glatter laser allows you to perfectly collimate your Newton telescope. What are the advantages? You will have sharper images, higher contrast, and therefore capture even the faintest details in the sky. Less frustration with collimation and more pleasure in observation.
The advantages at a glance:
- Precision-machined laser housing
- Custom-fit for 1.25" and 2" sizes (depending on model)
- Laser diode collimated during production
- Shock-resistant
- Thread for useful accessories
- 1 mm aperture mask for laser beam reduction and concentric circles
- 123A battery included in the shipment
- Plastic carrying case
