Technical data sheet

Howie Glatter 635nm 2" Laser Collimator

Howie Glatter Laser - Collimating your telescope with maximum precision

There are many laser collimators on the astronomical market, and many are built in a very questionable manner. You see laser beams sliding like a blob of color on the primary mirror and tubes that dance the samba inside the focuser.

How can one speak of a well-collimated telescope? What good is even the most expensive telescope? The optics must be in order.

Fortunately, there is a solution: a Howie Glatter laser.

A custom-fit cylinder for the focuser
The Howie Glatter laser features, depending on the model, a 1.25" or 2" connection. Unlike competing models, the diameter is calculated to perfection.

The laser sits in the right place - and consequently, you will also obtain the correct collimation.

Thin laser beam
A thin and well-defined laser beam is projected through your telescope. Depending on whether you perform the collimation by day or by night, you can choose between a brighter or dimmer beam.

The laser diode is collimated and fixed during production. Even if the Howie Glatter laser suffers knocks, the collimation remains stable.

Even more precise: The 1mm aperture mask
The Howie Glatter laser is a well-thought-out instrument. Everything becomes clearer when you see the accessory. Different masks can be screwed onto the front, making collimation even more precise.

A mask with a 1 mm hole in the center is included in the shipment. With this mask, the laser beam is further restricted. When the mirror reflects the beam, you will see a central point around which concentric circles are created.

Accessories for the collimation laser
In addition to the 1mm aperture mask, other optional accessories are available for the Howie Glatter laser. A Barlow, a holographic reticle, an extension with a 45° matte plate - all elements that make collimation even more precise. With the holographic reticle, for example, you can precisely center the secondary mirror of a Newtonian telescope and easily adjust the offset. With the Barlow element, you can achieve an even more precise adjustment of the primary mirror.

The Howie Glatter laser allows you to collimate your Newtonian telescope to perfection. What are the resulting advantages? You will have sharper images, greater contrast, and will therefore capture even the faintest details in the sky. Less frustration with collimation and more pleasure in observation.

The advantages at a glance:

  • laser housing manufactured with precision
  • custom-fit for 1.25" and 2" sizes (depending on the model)
  • laser diode collimated during production
  • shock-resistant
  • thread for useful accessories
  • 1 mm aperture mask for laser beam reduction and concentric circles.
  • 123A battery included in the shipment
  • plastic case
