With the introduction of the 68° Series, we are pleased to present two significant improvements in eyepiece production. The first is the 15-layer Enhanced Multi-layer Deposition (EMD™) coating on all glass-to-air surfaces for maximum contrast, and the second is waterproofing the eyepiece through a filling that uses argon gas instead of the traditional nitrogen. While nitrogen is an excellent choice that will last for many years to come, argon is a larger molecule that retains its protective properties over a wider range of temperatures and is also more resistant to thermal diffusion, thereby further improving the protection of the eyepiece body's waterproof environment. Through computer-optimized design, careful selection of optical glass, and improved multi-layer deposition coatings, Explore Scientific 68° Series™ eyepieces produce long eye relief and ensure excellent image correction, a wide flat field, and high contrast across the entire field of view. An excellent choice for anyone who performs prolonged visual studies of details with subtle variations in brightness, and for those who need to wear glasses while observing. All 68° Series eyepieces are fully coated with EMD (Enhanced Multi-Layer Deposition) and have blackened edges to produce high contrast.
