Technical data sheet
DWARFLAB Draco SHO – Smart Telescope MC 90/340 with SHO Filters and Hubble Palette
The DWARFLAB Draco SHO is the full-filter version of DWARFLAB's flagship smart telescope: an integrated acquisition system with 90mm optics, dual camera, automatic GoTo, and single exposures of up to 300 seconds. In addition to the standard version's equipment, it adds an integrated dual-narrowband S II + O III filter, which, together with the Hα + O III filter, allows for automatic acquisition of three-band data and the composition of images in the classic blue and gold Hubble Palette, without external software.
Expected availability: November 2026. The product is offered for pre-order; the final delivery date will be confirmed as soon as communicated by the distributor.
90mm aperture for deep sky
The deeper the sky, the more aperture counts. The 90mm telephoto optic collects the light needed to reveal faint structures and nuances that smaller-diameter smart systems struggle to record.
- 90mm aperture, 340mm focal length, f/3.8 focal ratio
- 1200mm equivalent focal length in astronomical mode
- Integrated guiding for single exposures up to 300 seconds
- Suitable for nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters
- 2.059° diagonal field of view on the telephoto lens
Dual camera: telephoto and wide-angle
Draco captures on two scales simultaneously: the telephoto lens isolates the subject, while the wide-angle records the portion of the sky it belongs to. Both cameras can work together in the same session.
- Telephoto lens with 1/1.3" OV50Q40 sensor and 50.33 MP
- Wide-angle with OV50E40 sensor, 23.3 mm equivalent focal length
- Ultra-wide field of view D 85.74° / H 73.20° / V 58.23°
- Dedicated monochrome OS04C1B guide camera for tracking
- Ideal for the Milky Way, star trails, and wide-field nightscapes
A single sensor, multiple shooting modes
The same sensor works in two different ways depending on the subject, without the user needing to intervene.
- Deep sky: 2×2 binning, four native 1.197 µm pixels combined into an effective 2.394 µm pixel, images at approximately 12 MP
- Better signal-to-noise ratio for faint subjects
- Sun, Moon, and planets: 1×1 native pixel readout for maximum detail
- Intelligent cropping of the area around the subject
- Details such as lunar craters, sunspots, Saturn's rings, and the Great Red Spot
Integrated SHO filters and automatic Hubble Palette
This is the difference that defines this version: added to the Hα + O III dual-narrowband filter is a second S II + O III dual-narrowband filter, also integrated into the body and selectable from the app.
- 440-680 nm astronomical filter for galaxies and star clusters
- Dual narrowband Hα 656.3 nm + O III 500.7 nm, FWHM 13 nm
- Dual narrowband S II 671.6 nm + O III 500.7 nm, FWHM 13 nm
- The two filters work in automatic sequence to acquire real S, H, and O data
- Separation, color mapping, and composition managed by the app
- Blue and gold Hubble Palette images with a single touch
- Integrated blackout filter for dark frames
- Magnetic external ND filter included for solar photography
Equatorial mode without an additional mount
The all-metal base integrates into the chassis to form a rigid, unified structure that is stable even in equatorial mode. The app guides you in adjusting the correct angle.
- Integrated equatorial mode, no additional equatorial mount needed
- All-metal base and chassis
- Increased stability for long exposures and multi-frame stacking
- Alignment procedure guided by the app
- 225° tilt and 360° rotation
From pointing to image, automatically
You choose the subject and tap GoTo: autofocus, calibration, subject acquisition, tracking, and real-time stacking happen on their own. Pro mode remains available for those who want to manage everything manually.
- Automatic GoTo with subject centering
- Automatic autofocus and calibration
- Real-time stacking during the session
- Auto mode with parameters adjusted for each subject
- Pro mode with exposure, gain, and filter control
- Flat and bias calibration data included, dark frames acquired in real-time
- Automatic reduction of thermal noise, vignetting, dust shadows, and read noise
Remote control and scheduled shooting
Draco can be installed where observation conditions are best and controlled from anywhere via PhotonLink, the official DWARFLAB remote service.
- PhotonLink remote control from the app
- Ability to invite other users to control it
- Remote switching of filters, dark frame cover, and shooting parameters
- Scheduled shooting: set the subject, time, and parameters, and Draco activates automatically
- Ethernet connectivity via USB adapter for fixed installations
- Suitable for long-term remote stations
Astronomical mosaic and subjects beyond deep sky
When a single frame isn't enough, the frame widens on the star map and Draco automatically acquires and stitches together multiple sections.
- Mosaic up to 1.8× in width and height, for a field approximately 3× wider
- Automatic acquisition and stitching of sections
- Solar System mode for Sun and Moon with automatic centering and lock
- Suitable for solar and lunar eclipses, sunspots, and lunar details
- Milky Way and star trail modes
- Panorama, burst, and interval shooting
Processing and export formats
Stellar Studio, inside the DWARFLAB app, provides the essential tools to refine astro-photos without switching to complex desktop software. Those who prefer their own workflow can export raw data.
- Automatic enhancement and star correction
- Noise reduction, star reduction, removal, and extraction
- Diffraction spikes, watermarks, and Hubble Palette effect
- Export to JPG and PNG for quick sharing
- Export to FITS and TIFF with full data for advanced post-production
- PhotonVerse community and shared Star Party sessions with CoStack and CoMosaic
Autonomy, memory, and transport
- Integrated 10,000 mAh (7.7 V) battery for about 5 hours of session
- Charging via USB Type-C, even from an external power bank
- 128 GB of internal memory
- 5.5 kg body, portable with one hand
- Dimensions 385.85 × 196.28 × 133.25 mm
- Operating temperature from -20 °C to +45 °C
- Aluminum tripod included, 480 g, folded 80 × 80 × 268 mm
- NFC connection to launch the app by moving the phone close
Ideal for
- Deep sky astrophotography: nebulae, galaxies, and clusters
- Narrowband and Hubble Palette images automatically, without post-production
- Shooting the Sun, Moon, and planets
- Milky Way, star trails, night panoramas, and time-lapse
- Remote stations and home-controlled observatories
- Amateur astronomers who want results without managing separate mounts, guiding, and software
- Those looking for a transportable system to take under dark skies
- Shared sessions and collaborative projects
- Experienced astrophotographers who want real S, H, and O band data
