203mm Aplanatic Edge HD Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (optical tube only). The Edge HD 800 utilizes diffraction-limited aplanatic Edge HD Schmidt-Cassegrain optics. The Edge HD optical system combines the popular compactness of Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes with newly designed high-definition optics that produce wide-field images with the quality typical of astrographs. When used for visual observation, Edge HD optics provide pinpoint stellar images right to the edge, even with 2-inch ultra-wide-angle eyepieces. When used for astroimaging, Edge HD optics produce aberration-free images across the entire field covered by CCD or DSLR cameras, even full-frame models. All Edge HD optics have been designed to produce a very flat focal plane, generating perfectly focused stellar images to the extreme edge of the sensor. The C8 Edge HD is suitable for both visual and photographic use and is designed to be modular, capable of performing optimally across a focal length range between 400 and 8000 mm (with optional accessories, including those from third parties). The XLT optical coating enhances light transmission, offering very high contrast on both planets and deep-sky objects. Edge HD telescopes are also Fastar-compatible and feature a primary mirror clutch system and micro-filtered side vents to speed up the optical thermal equilibrium process. The package includes quality accessories: a 9x50mm finder scope, a 40mm Plössl eyepiece, a 1.25" diagonal, and a dovetail bar for EQ5/CG5/EQ6 mounts.
