355 mm Edge HD aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (optical tube only). The Edge HD 1400 telescope utilizes diffraction-limited aplanatic Edge HD Schmidt-Cassegrain optics. The Edge HD optical system combines the popular compactness of the Schmidt-Cassegrain with newly designed high-definition optics that provide wide-field images with the quality typical of astrographs. When used visually, Edge HD optics provide pinpoint stellar images right to the edge, even with 2-inch ultra-wide-angle eyepieces. When used for astroimaging, EdgeHD optics produce images free of aberrations across the entire field captured by CCD or DSLR cameras, even with Full Frame formats. All EdgeHD optics have been designed to produce a very flat focal plane, generating perfectly focused star images up to the extreme edge of the sensor. The Edge HD 1400 is suitable for both visual and photographic use, and is designed to be modular, capable of performing optimally across focal length ranges between 720 and 14,000 mm (with optional accessories, including those produced by third parties). The XLT optical coating enhances the brightness of the optics, also offering very high contrast on both planets and deep-sky objects. The Edge HD models are also pre-configured for the Fastar/Hyperstar system and are equipped with a primary mirror clutch system and micro-filtered side vents to speed up the thermal equilibrium process of the optics. The package includes several quality accessories: a 9x50mm finderscope, a 2-inch Luminos 23mm ultra-wide eyepiece, a 2-inch diameter diagonal, and a CGE/Losmandy/NEQ6 dovetail bar.
