Technical data sheet

Celestron Power Tank Lithium LT

The Power Tank Lithium LT is a next-generation lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide [LiNiMnCoO2] battery that ensures constant voltage delivery for long periods, while requiring less maintenance than a traditional lead-acid battery. Unlike other lithium-ion batteries in this price range, the Power Tank Lithium LT was designed for astronomers by astronomers, specifically for the unique and particular needs of computerized telescopes. Telescope electronics are, in fact, very sensitive to voltage. Powering a telescope with a voltage lower than optimal can cause malfunctions in the motors and even the electronics; therefore, the Power Tank Lithium LT uses a built-in voltage regulator to ensure an output of at least 11.8 volts for the majority of the battery's run time, until the battery is depleted and shuts off. Competitors' batteries may claim to have enough watt-hours of electricity to power a telescope for more than 8 hours. The technology in those batteries was originally developed to power very low-voltage electronic components, such as home CPAP machines. Although the actual voltage delivered starts at 12V, it drops rapidly, affecting telescope performance and becoming functionally useless within about 2-3 hours. Celestron engineers worked closely with battery suppliers to ensure that the Power Tank LT would not suffer from this drop in performance. The built-in voltage regulator ensures a stable 12V output, regardless of how much charge is left in the battery. This keeps your telescope's electronics protected and functional. The chemistry used by the Power Tank Lithium LT offers several advantages over the lithium cobalt oxide batteries commonly found on the market today. In addition to having a longer shelf life and three times the number of charge cycles compared to LiCoO2 chemistry, our battery offers overcharge protection. Compared to a lead-acid battery, the Power Tank Lithium LT is smaller, lighter, more efficient, and more environmentally friendly. It offers better performance, a longer lifespan, and safer operation than other low-cost lithium-ion battery chemistries. It also offers useful features such as automatic shut-off, reverse polarity protection, charge/discharge protection, overcurrent protection, and short-circuit protection. If you need to power your telescope and charge electronic devices at the same time, the Power Tank Lithium LT has two output ports: 1 x 12V DC port for the telescope and 1 x 2.1A fast-charge USB port for smartphones and tablets. This USB port can also support any accessories that require 5V USB power. FEATURES Capacity 73.3 Wh Charge 16VDC @ 2000mA Charging time 4 hours Telescope Power Port 12V DC @ 3000mA stabilized, 5mm/2.1mm tip positive jack USB Power Port 5V DC @ 2100mA Operating temperature -40°C to 60°C Weatherproof No Cable length 2 meters Dimensions 190.5mm x 101.6mm x 50.8mm Weight 0.63 kg Included Power Tank Lithium LT battery, telescope power cable (2m), velcro strap for tripod attachment, charger with international plugs.
