Schmidt-Cassegrain catadioptric telescope with Nexstar SE computerized single-arm altazimuth mount. The Celestron NexStar SE series of computerized telescopes is a successful synthesis of the tradition of excellent Celestron optics with XLT coating and the practicality and high technology of Nexstar SE single-arm mounts, equipped with automatic pointing, a hand controller with upgradeable Nexstar firmware, SkyAlign™ alignment system, and much more. The Nexstar SE single-arm mounts feature a universal dovetail mounting platform and can therefore be used with other optics. Nexstar SE telescopes are portable instruments with highly advanced functions. They allow for precision alignment in just a few minutes using SkyAlign technology, which consists of pointing at three bright stars "at random" and letting the Nexstar computer do the rest. The SkyAlign function does not require the user to know the sky. It includes a 220V power adapter and a battery compartment (for 8 AA batteries, not included), a NexStar hand controller upgradeable via the web, with SkyAlign easy alignment function and a database of over 4,000 celestial objects. The Nexstar 5SE is a telescope with very high-quality Schmidt-Cassegrain optics, suitable for primary visual use for both terrestrial and astronomical subjects, but also allows for photographic shooting with SLR, mirrorless, or compact cameras and video recording with webcams.
