Technical data sheet
Celestron 2" UHC / LPR Filter
Celestron UHC/LPR (Ultra High Contrast / Light Pollution Reduction) filters are designed to selectively reduce the transmission of specific wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light. This includes light generated by mercury vapor lamps and both low and high-pressure sodium lamps, as well as unwanted light caused by the natural emission of neutral oxygen in our atmosphere. The new high-contrast LPR (UHC) filter features improved contrast compared to typical broadband filters. The sky background is darker, and the contrast of emission nebulae is noticeably improved. Advanced high-vacuum oxide deposition technology allows the filter to achieve extraordinary transmission of over 97% across the entire passband, while completely blocking light pollution lines. It is the perfect filter for observing nebulae under light-polluted skies, or for enhancing nebula contrast under dark skies. In addition to its excellent spectral and optical characteristics, the UHC/LPR filter offers important performance features that set it apart and enable better observations. The dielectric multi-layer coating uses plasma technology and is hardened with ion beams using state-of-the-art technology to ensure durability and high resistance to surface scratches. More efficient light transmission results in greater image brightness and contrast. Users of small telescopes, from 100 to 280 mm, will appreciate the filter's high efficiency, and those with larger telescopes will be pleased by the richness of the star fields and the nuances of the nebulae that the filter leaves intact. The high transmission, clean light pollution cutoff, and smoother 60nm passband of the UHC/LPR filter allow for a more natural view, with a clear increase in overall contrast. Astroimagers will also appreciate the wider passband and the inclusion of the H-Alpha radiation passband (656nm).
