The use of additional accessories such as cameras, dew shields, Tele-Extenders, and 2-inch diagonals and eyepieces affects telescope balance. It is therefore necessary to restore proper balance by adding one or more counterweights to make it easier for the mount to perform corrections and to achieve better tracking accuracy. Perfect balance is not required for the telescope to operate. In reality, it is not always possible to achieve perfect balance with fixed-position weights. All you need to do is reduce or eliminate oscillations when tightening the RA and Dec axis locks on the mount.
