Celestron CGX 800 EDGE HD

The Edge HD 800 utilizes aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain Edge HD optics corrected to the diffraction limit.

The Edge HD optical system combines the highly popular compactness of Schmidt-Cassegrain designs with newly developed, high-definition optics that enable wide-field imaging with the quality typical of astrographs. When used visually, Edge HD optics provide pinpoint stellar images right to the edge, even with 2-inch ultra-wide-angle eyepieces.

When used for astroimaging, EdgeHD optics produce aberration-free images across the entire field of view captured by CCD or DSLR cameras, even with Full Frame sensors.

All EdgeHD optics are designed to produce a very flat focal plane, creating perfectly focused stellar images out to the extreme edges of the sensor. The C8 Edge HD is suitable for both visual and photographic use and has been designed to be modular, capable of performing optimally across a focal length range between 400 and 8000 mm (with optional accessories, including those from third-party manufacturers).

The XLT optical coating enhances light transmission, also offering very high contrast on both planets and deep-sky objects. Edge HD telescopes are also Fastar-compatible and are equipped with a primary mirror clutch system and micro-filtered side vents to accelerate the thermal equilibrium process of the optics. The package includes several quality accessories: a 9x50mm finderscope, a 40mm Plössl eyepiece, a 31.8 mm star diagonal, and a dovetail bar for CGE/Losmandy/NEQ6.

Celestron is pleased to introduce the new CGX equatorial mount, the evolution of the CGEM series with significant mechanical, technological, and ergonomic improvements.

The belt drive will allow for smooth, backlash-free tracking even with heavier optical tubes (over 25kg), while integrated optical sensors and internal architecture allow you to comfortably control the mount remotely without any worries.

The ability to adjust the mount's position forward and backward allows you to shift the center of gravity as you please, providing the most precise balancing and weight distribution possible. Convenient handles on the mount and the brand-new, even more robust tripod, combined with the ergonomic design of the accessory tray, make the CGX mount easy and convenient to transport, ideal for amateur astronomers on the go. Redesigned knobs, material upgrades, and mechanical and electronic advancements make the CGX the most high-tech Celestron mount ever.

An autoguider port, two auxiliary ports useful for connecting the mount via Wi-Fi using Sky Portal (sold separately) and for connecting the Star Sense camera (sold separately), a USB input port for connecting the telescope to a PC to manage movements and alignment via the included software, NexStar*+ hand controller with mini-USB connector, and many other new features like an internal clock complete the CGX's capabilities, ensuring unforgettable nights of observation and photography.
