Celestron Advanced VX 8 Edge HD

203mm aplanatic Edge HD Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with Advanced VX computerized German equatorial mount.

The Advanced VX 8 Edge HD uses diffraction-limited aplanatic Edge HD Schmidt-Cassegrain optics. The Edge HD optical system combines the popular compactness of Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes with newly designed high-definition optics that deliver wide-field images with the quality typical of astrographs.

When used for visual observation, Edge HD optics provide pinpoint stellar images right to the edge, even with 2-inch ultra-wide-angle eyepieces. When used for astroimaging, EdgeHD optics produce aberration-free images across the entire field of view captured by CCD or DSLR cameras, including Full Frame formats.

All EdgeHD optics are designed to produce a very flat focal plane, generating perfectly focused stellar images to the extreme edge of the sensor. The C8 Edge HD is suitable for both visual and photographic use and has been designed to be modular, capable of performing optimally across a range of focal lengths from 660mm to 8000mm (with optional accessories, including those from third parties). The XLT optical coating enhances the brightness of the optics, also offering very high contrast on both planets and deep-sky objects.

Edge HD telescopes are also Fastar-compatible and are equipped with a primary mirror clutch system and micro-filtered side vents to speed up the process of reaching thermal equilibrium. The Advanced VX series telescopes are mounted on the new Advanced VX computerized equatorial mount. The basic kit includes high-quality accessories: a bright 9×50 finderscope, a 40mm Plössl eyepiece, and a 31.8mm diameter diagonal, allowing you to begin observing immediately.

The new Advanced VX mount has been designed to provide optimal performance for imaging with small telescopes. Now your instrument can benefit from the highly convenient All-Star Polar Alignment (which allows for alignment without seeing the North Star) and an autoguider port. You will be able to track long exposures and program permanent periodic error correction.

You will also be able to take photos across the meridian without performing a meridian flip. The Advanced VX mount features a significantly larger base plate than the previous mount, improving stability when under heavy loads. The upgraded motors offer more torque and can handle slight imbalances with ease. Furthermore, the AVX mount is equipped with an internal clock (RTC module) with a backup battery, so it can be powered off without losing alignment data. 220V POWER SUPPLY INCLUDED!
