Player One Astronomy Neptune 664C USB3.0 Color Planetary Camera
High-resolution planetary camera Player One Astronomy Neptune 664C USB3.0 Color (Sony IMX664 sensor) Product description NEPTUNE 664C has opened the door to the 3rd Gen NEPTUNE series, the latest planetary camera developed by Player One Astronomy. It is the successor to the Neptune-C II (IMX464) camera. The NEPTUNE 664C camera adopts the 1/1.8" Sony IMX664 color sensor. The 2.9 µm pixel size offers a full well capacity of 38.5 ke- with a total of 4.2 MPx (the resolution is 2704x1540) and the diagonal is 6.46 mm. "Super AR Plus" optical window The Neptune 664C camera uses a Super AR Plus window. This glass is capable of providing very high transmittance from 310 nm to 1100 nm. This significant improvement allows the NEPTUNE 664C camera to perform much better in both ultraviolet and near-infrared (NIR). STARVIS 2 Technology The Neptune 664C is based on Sony's brand new STARVIS 2 technology, a back-illuminated pixel technology used in CMOS image sensors. Non-Amp-Glow The biggest surprise of the Neptune 664C camera is that its dark frame is totally "dark," no matter how much we boost the curve, there is no AMP glow! 60s dark frame of the Neptune 664C camera (resized to 50%): Features: Comparison of 3 generations Player One has added all our best technologies to the 3rd generation Neptune 664C camera. You will see the benefits, such as the Super AR Plus window and the passive cooling system. These features will make the Neptune 664C camera very competitive in the market! 2nd generation - Sensor tilt plate The built-in high-density sponge shading pad can block light from side gaps without any side leakage. When photographing the sun with a prominence telescope, Newton's rings are annoying. By adjusting the focal plate, a more homogeneous solar image can be obtained without Newton's rings. Achieving a much smaller field curvature of the telescope. 256M DDR3 Cache Player One Astronomy cameras all adopt DDR3 cache. It helps to stabilize and secure data transmission, effectively avoids frame drops, and significantly reduces read noise. Thanks to the DDR3 cache, the camera no longer has high computing requirements, yet still maintains excellent performance even when connected to a USB 2.0 port. DPS Technology Player One Astronomy planetary cameras come with DPS (Dead Pixel Suppression) technology. The DPS analyzes many dark frames to identify fixed anomalous pixels and records the map in the camera's memory. During imaging, at each exposure frame, the dead pixel position is assigned a median value based on the active pixels around that anomalous pixel. HCG Mode The Neptune 664C camera features a unique HCG mode, which automatically activates when the camera's gain setting is ≥180. The HCG mode is capable of significantly reducing read noise and maintaining the same high dynamic range as at low gain. QE Curve The QE curve of the Neptune 664C camera tells us that this camera is a NIR-enhanced camera. Working behind the Super AR Plus window, this camera will maintain a very high QE in the infrared. This is the relative QE curve provided by Sony; the absolute peak QE is approximately 91%.
