Bob's Knobs Quick Collimation System for 8" f/10 Meade SCT

Collimation knobs for all 8" f/6.3 Meade telescopes (2080, LX6, LX10, LX50, LX100, LX200)

Item compatible with all 8" Meade models with wide-field secondary mirrors. An Allen key is included in the package for the safe removal of the original screws.

The secondary mirror cover cannot be attached to the housing if the Bob's Knobs are installed. We can provide an optional set of spacers.

Some telescopes have an additional plastic cover protecting the collimation screws; in this case, it is advisable to remove this cover before proceeding with the installation of the Bob's Knobs.

Installing Bob's Knobs is extremely simple and safe: inside the package, you will find a detailed manual that will guide you through the process of removing the standard screws and subsequently installing the Bob's Knobs. Specifically, by replacing the screws individually, one at a time, there is no risk of the secondary mirror detaching from its cell. An additional precaution we recommend is to point the telescope downward so that gravity helps stabilize the secondary within the cell.

Collimation is essential for achieving optimal observational results, especially when operating at high resolution, both visually and during imaging. Often, the screws provided by the manufacturer are quite inconvenient to adjust, especially when working in the dark, in uncomfortable thermal conditions, or while looking through the instrument. All of this, obviously, requires significant effort and a non-negligible waste of observation time. Bob's Knobs facilitate this task, as they are equipped with a knob that is easy to handle even in the dark, with gloves, or in the cold.

Each telescope requires a different set of small screws, as the length of the collimation screws increases with the diameter of the telescope. Therefore, do not hesitate to contact our technicians to ensure that the product is the right one for you.
